Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

The administration of Holy Communion during Mass is the ministry of bringing the sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ to the people of God. While ordained ministers (priests and deacons) are the ordinary ministers of Holy Communion, lay men and women appointed as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are assigned to assist the priests and deacons.
