About the Talk
Why does the Holy See have Embassies? :
“The Vatican”, Diplomacy, and the Powers of this World
What exactly is the Holy See? Is it different from “The Vatican”? Why does the Holy See engage in diplomacy and dialogue with the nations of this world?
Presently, the Holy See maintains bilateral diplomatic relations with 183 sovereign nations and is an active member or permanent observer of many international organizations ranging from the United Nations to the World Meteorological Organization.
For centuries, the Holy See has sent and received Legates or Ambassadors and continues to do so today in an effort to carry out her mission in this world.
